The entire complex follows a <strong>five-section, eleven-bay layout<\/strong>. Among these, the <strong>first section<\/strong> (First Courtyard) is located at the very front of the estate and serves as the <strong>main entrance hall<\/strong> of the architectural complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was expanded by <strong>Lin Chao-tung<\/strong> between the 9th year of the Tongzhi reign (1870) and the 9th year of the Guangxu reign (1883). This section symbolizes the <strong>first formal space<\/strong> upon entering the residence and reflects the <strong>majesty and ceremonial order<\/strong> of an official\u2019s mansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Layout and Function:<\/strong><br>The first section serves as the <strong>reception and entrance area<\/strong>, functioning as the mansion\u2019s formal fa\u00e7ade.
